Pretty Bitter, “Thrill Eater” (Pleaser / 2025)
Pretty Bitter turns out a gorgeous new cut that immediately conjures up some Cranberries feel-good. The insistent acoustic guitar and crystalline vocals meshed into the song’s overall melancholy, making a serious statement. Bonus points for added banjo, which doesn’t come off as hokey, but necessary!
The Mary Onettes, “Hurricane Heart” (single / 2025)
New Swedish goths getting after it! Easy to get caught up in the shimmering, swirling black dream pop beauty of “Hurricane Heart”. The group has studied Echo & the Bunnymen, and studied well.
