Arden Leas, “Sober Song” (Z77 / 2025)
The majority of Arden Leas’ Z77 swims in this lovely Julien Baker-esque sonic world of searching and heartache. Then “Sober Song” blows in towards the album’s end, brimming with light and hope (perhaps not lyrically), sounding like a rollicking Frightened Rabbit gem. Great song!
Prodigal, “Forever//Forgot” (single / 2025)
Prodigal out here in 2025 with this explosive jam that might have gotten them a major label deal on the spot had they been playing a top-of-the-day slot at Ozzfest ’98. Mean-mug, start and stop nu-metal sans any rapping, but I believe there’s some scratching at the outset. I’m not saying it’s reaching this level, but we’re getting hints of System of a Down. Stoked to hear what’s coming.
